The Karauli Story
A sesame heritage older than the state itself
Karauli, the red-sandstone princely town of eastern Rajasthan, sits inside a recognized sesame belt. Its winter craft — gazak and tilpatti — has been passed down by karigars for generations. Gazakwala is made just 7 km from Karauli town.

Gazak, Gajak & Tilpatti — FAQ
What is gazak?+
Gazak is a traditional North Indian winter sweet made by slow-cooking sesame (til) with jaggery (gud) or sugar until it reaches the hard-crack stage, then hammering the mass thin so it snaps cleanly. It is closely associated with festivals like Makar Sankranti and Lohri.
Gazak, gajak and tilpatti — what's the difference?+
Gazak and gajak are two common spellings of the same word (गजक). Tilpatti (तिलपट्टी) refers specifically to the thin, crisp sesame disc or sheet form of gazak. All three come from the same til-gud craft tradition.
What is the shelf life? Does it need refrigeration?+
Our gazak stays fresh for around 2–3 months when stored in a cool, dry place in an airtight container. Refrigeration is not required — in fact it can make gazak sticky.
Do you deliver across India?+
Yes. Gazakwala ships pan-India. Place your enquiry on WhatsApp with your city and pin code and we'll confirm delivery timelines.
Is it made with jaggery or sugar?+
Our gud range (Til Gud Gazak, Gud Ki Gazak, Gud Kaju Gazak, Peanut Gud Chikki, etc.) is made with pure jaggery — no refined sugar. Our til-chini and select premium slabs use sugar for the traditional lighter finish. Each product clearly states its base.
Do you supply gazak in bulk or wholesale?+
Yes. We supply sweet shops, distributors and corporate gifting programs. Visit our Bulk & Corporate page or message us on WhatsApp with your quantity.
